I'm wondering when the rotation Walk to Emmaus is usually used. Is it as your Lent/Easter rotation? I'm struggling with our topic choice after Easter through the month of April. We were going to do Saul to Paul or the walk to Emmaus but I didn't know if this is usually an Easter rotation/focus.
Hopefully our scope and sequence will be complete on March 3 - with a little help from above.

Keep the faith,
Sheryl

Just my opinion, but I would think it could work either way. In a way it is part of the Easter Resurrection story, but it is also after the resurrection so it could be use that way.

If you've preview material from this site, and you like some of the lesson places maybe it would be best to ask how those would fit best as part of the Easter Story or After.

We used it as our Easter rotation last year. The focus we used however, was on Jesus' review of his life and purpose on earth. Actually, I'd probably do it differently next time, and use that story post-Easter as a resurrection story. Generally we tried to use holy week stories during Lent and resurrection stories for after Easter.

Thanks for the quick response. I think we may do it post Easter and maybe do Saul to Paul after that. I like the idea of covering the ressurection a little more as we are doing a sequencing of Holy week for Easter rotation with not a lot of focus on ressurection.
Keep the faith.

Emmaeus is an Easter story. The Revised Common Lectionary uses this as an Easter evening texts (for those that use an Easter Evening service Eek not many, I'm guessing)

My opinion: put the most important stories, as you and your committee rank them, at the times when your classes are most heavily attended. If you get tons of children in Sept-Dec and then in winter months you have very low attendance, I'd switch things around and teach an Easter rotation in the fall because it's very important, and something like Jacob and Esau in the winter (neat story, less theologically central.)

Peace,
Lisa

We're just about to do it as our post Easter rotation. We did Moses and the Passover in February, and the Last Supper in March. As the men recognise Jesus in the breaking of bread, it seems like a logical next story. It will be good to see how the children respond - watch this space!
